Meet the Battle Creek Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Oaklawn Hospital.

Each week during the high school sports season, we ask our readers to vote for the top performance of the week in all sports, taking a look at events from Monday-Saturday.

Make sure to vote early and often for your pick, as the winner will get an Enquirer Athlete of the Week T-shirt. Fans can vote online at www.battlecreekenquirer.com for their favorite athlete until 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Lakeview Girls Swimming

Lakeview’s Grace Hudson helped the Spartans win the annual All-City Girls Swimming and Diving Meet. Hudson had big performances in the middle distance and distance events, taking first in the 200 freestyle (2:03.94) and first in the 500 free in 5:37.36.

Ari Pontoni

St. Philip Girls Cross Country

Ari Pontoni was crowned the top female runner in the city as she won the individual title at the annual All-City Girls Cross Country Meet. Pontoni took advantage of the familiarity of her home course, taking first place in 21:37 to become the first Tiger to win the girls race since 2015.

Parker LaGro

Lakeview Boys Cross Country

Lakeview won the All-City Boys Cross Country Meet with the help of a first-place finish by junior Parker LaGro. The Spartans had five of the top 10 spots in the race with LaGrow finishing first in a time of 17:10.

Nate Tucker

Marshall Football

Nate Tucker threw for five touchdown passes, including two 30-plus yard tosses, on 17-of-23 throwing and 294 yards to lead Marshall to the one-sided league 62-26 win over Jackson Northwest in Interstate 8 Conference action.
